Newcastle and Gateshead

You will be amazed at how much is on offer in the vibrant centre of Newcastle and Gateshead. A full day here will give time for a panoramic tour taking in all the sites. Newcastle Castle keep, which gave the city its name, the statue of Earl Grey (Monument) of tea fame, Saint Nicholas Cathedral and the exciting quayside area with seven bridges, Sage Gateshead music venue and Baltic Arts Centre will all be included with a full commentary bringing the city to life – and don’t forget our remarkable Angel of the North.

A more in-depth look at Newcastle and Gateshead can include a walking tour of the city centre and quayside areas and perhaps a visit to some of the more famous attractions. The Great North Museum with its Roman collection and the Laing Art Gallery housing work by many local artists are both within the compact city centre. Nearby is the Discovery Museum, showcasing the region’s involvement in science through the years, and the interactive science attraction, Centre for life.

The Tyneside Classical architecture of Grey Street in Graingertown was voted the best street in Britain by Radio 4 listeners and there are many more hidden gems. So come and explore and see where the famous Blaydon races was first sung. Join in if you know the words! I can arrange behind the scenes tours at the Victorian Theatre Royal, the former music hall venue of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House and the unique Tyneside Cinema for music and theatre aficionados.

I can arrange more in depth tours if you would like something special – themed walking tours, pub tours, ghost tours or visits to the artisan Ouseburn area with its characterful pubs are all available on request.
